Equity Work Group Kick Off Meeting

The kick off meeting for the Equity Work Group occurred on October 18th after the Collaborative meeting. The meeting began with introductions and an overview of expectations from the Climate Resilience Communities (CRC). A "Who is in the Room" organizational snapshot and gallery walk provided a visual representation of the participating organizations. The discussion then shifted towards establishing goals and desired outcomes for the Santa Clara County (SCC) Climate Collaborative and the Equity Working Group (EWG). The meeting concluded by outlining the next steps and follow-up actions to ensure that the collaborative efforts continue to progress effectively.

The meeting occurred on October 18th and aimed to establish a generative networking and relationship space focused on fostering connections across various sectors and levels of government. This collaborative meeting included a session of small group networking and sharing, allowing participants to discuss their climate interests and actions. Notable initiatives and collaborations were highlighted from around the county. The meeting delved into the crucial topic of equitable mitigation, led by a discussion on framing its meaning for the collaborative. The event included a panel on county-wide models for decarbonization, featuring speakers, Violet Wulf- Saena, Founder & Executive Director of Climate Resilient Communities, Quency Phillips, Executive Director/CEO of Lighthouse Silicon Valley and Danielle Lee, Chief Sustainability and Resiliency Officer at City of Mountain View. Additionally, participants engaged in a productive small group discussion, contemplating what equitable mitigation entails in their respective organizations.
