Work Groups

As a supportive function of the Collaborative, work groups have been formed to delve deeper into key topics. The work groups and the topics will evolve over time based on Collaborative needs and interests.

​

These work groups are open to Collaborative members as well as other individuals and organizations interested in participating. Below is a summary of the currently active work groups.

Equity in Community Work Group (EiCWG)

The Equity in Community Work Group (EiCWG) creates a space for nonprofits, CBOs and other cross-jurisdictional partners to connect and share best practices, successes and challenges in applying equitable approaches to climate action.

Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CRPG) Work Group

The Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CPRG) Work Group was formed to work collaboratively on regional climate action planning as part of the EPA CPRG Program. The region was awarded a $1M Planning Grant to develop two regional climate action plans that will set ambitious targets and outline strategies to decrease greenhouse gas emissions across Santa Clara County and San Benito County, while prioritizing low income and disadvantaged communities and workforce development.

Heat and Air Quality Resilience (HAQR) Work Group

The Heat and Air Quality Resilience (HAQR) Work Group is a network of SCC jurisdictions, community-based organizations, academia partners, and environmental stakeholders focused on sharing research and data, leveraging resources, and coordinating the implementation of strategies and projects to increase the county’s resilience to extreme heat and impaired air quality.

Santa Clara Valley Urban Forestry Alliance (SCVUFA)

The Santa Clara Valley Urban Forestry Alliance (SCVUFA) Work Group facilitates collaboration and sharing among urban forestry stakeholders to expand and preserve urban tree canopy and mitigate detrimental effects on the environment and human health, especially in areas with disadvantaged populations.

Flooding and Sea Level Rise (FSLR) Work Group

The Flooding and Sea Level Rise (FSLR) Work Group is a coalition of local stakeholders, cities/towns, and organizations working through community challenges and needs to reduce the impacts of riverine flooding and sea level rise throughout Santa Clara County.

Resilience Hubs Work Group (RHWG)

The Resilience Hubs Work Group (RHWG) brings together partners, working to build trusted, community-serving facilities that strengthen resilience before, during, and after climate emergencies. The group coordinates and aligns resilience hub strategies. By sharing best practices, identifying funding opportunities, and centering frontline communities in planning and implementation, the group aims to create a lasting, equitable framework for community resilience in Santa Clara County.
